Featured Mom

Life has many challenges ...

Some people are able to overcome major obstacles and have a healthy, well balanced environment for themselves and family. Yvonne has triumphed over the loss of a parent, abuse as a child, educational short comings which has led her to inspire others to "Keep It Together" and help moms in similar situations. Here's her story . . .

After a several wake-up calls, Yvonne started to want more out of life. She graduated from high school; however, when she tried to go to college, she failed the "basic" entry exam. Her and her mom, sat on her grandmother's front porch and studied day in and day out, she was determined to get the opportunity to further her education.

Yvonne Pierre graduated from a local community college with two associate degrees - Accounting and Business Management. She moved to Atlanta, GA in 1998. She now has two boys Zyair 16 and Zyon 6-years-old, Zyon was born with Down syndrome.

Yvonne took a leap of faith to start her company Zyonair’s Unlimited, LLC. However, after reading a several online group post from parents of special needs children, messages of how they struggle with accepting their own children, Yvonne was devastated and put her dreams on hold to started spreading Down syndrome awareness. She launched an online community to post inspirational stories involving special needs such as Autism, Down syndrome, and Cerebral Palsy to name a few. Feeling that that wasn’t enough she later launched an online radio show called The Yvonne Pierre Show to use as a platform to empower others through inspirational stories and information.

Yvonne has accomplished all of this and more without financial resources. How? She says,

“It is amazing how God is works. I was able to teach myself web and graphic design, in addition to the college degrees in Accounting and Business, fortunately I was able to do mostly everything myself. Things I couldn’t do I was able to barter services I need. I strongly believe that when God gives you a vision he provides you with what you need to bring it to life. There is no way I could have gotten this far without Him.”

Yvonne is currently working on releasing her first book under her publishing company Zyonair’s Unlimited, LLC. The book “The Day My Soul Cried” a nonfiction inspirational book is due out spring 2009.

She is also preparing to develop the works of Zyonair's Media Corporation is a nonprofit that will develop reading empowerment books, video, etc. specifically for, but not limited to, Down syndrome.

Yvonne Pierre currently resides in Metro Atlanta, GA with her two kids and best friend/mate of ten years, Steffan. She is currently in school working on her MBA. For more information or to contact Yvonne Pierre, visit www.zyonair.com, www.hyhradio.com, and www.myspace.com/hyhonline.
