Who watches and cares for your child?

This is an important decision that every mom must encounter at some point. This can happen as early as two months or at 5 years, but the anxiety of leaving someone else in charge and care of the person that calls you mom is daunting. Many have the fortunate experience of family support, while others rely solely on themselves and/or spouses. Whatever the situation, responsibility of and individual to care for your child while you're at work (in or outside of the home) is important.

Being a mom is a great experience, but this question of who watches and cares for your child is challenging? Extensive background, database and referral search is only a percentage of the the pie. Overall, your instinct will help finalize your decision. Take Care and Good Night.

Re-Focusing Mom Blog

Fellow Bloggers and Readers

The Mommy Executive wishes everyone a Happy New Year. We are excited to start the year with a new focus and appeal. Last year had many challenges with juggling the Internet Social Network. Learning how to blog, why to blog, twitter, facebook and blog rolls (not a food, but sure sounds like one) and many more outlets to connect with fellow moms, bloggers, friends and networking buddies.

The main challenge is focusing and prioritizing on what matters most. Family is definitely at the top, but how to manage these great channels of communication without getting diverted from the main desired outcome. The desired outcome is to impact each other lives in a positive manner.

The Mommy Executive is learning from her own advice. Organize and re-organize for the new year. The Mommy Executive will focus on "Mom Features" of how women keep it together to help influence others to do the same and Organizing resources. The Sharmooz has a new blog dedicated the Virtual Tour and updates of the fast developing company.

Lessons have been well learned and would not be possible without the women on the online networking power. Thanks to all who have contributed to the growth of The Sharmooz.

Featured Mom

Life has many challenges ...

Some people are able to overcome major obstacles and have a healthy, well balanced environment for themselves and family. Yvonne has triumphed over the loss of a parent, abuse as a child, educational short comings which has led her to inspire others to "Keep It Together" and help moms in similar situations. Here's her story . . .

After a several wake-up calls, Yvonne started to want more out of life. She graduated from high school; however, when she tried to go to college, she failed the "basic" entry exam. Her and her mom, sat on her grandmother's front porch and studied day in and day out, she was determined to get the opportunity to further her education.

Yvonne Pierre graduated from a local community college with two associate degrees - Accounting and Business Management. She moved to Atlanta, GA in 1998. She now has two boys Zyair 16 and Zyon 6-years-old, Zyon was born with Down syndrome.

Yvonne took a leap of faith to start her company Zyonair’s Unlimited, LLC. However, after reading a several online group post from parents of special needs children, messages of how they struggle with accepting their own children, Yvonne was devastated and put her dreams on hold to started spreading Down syndrome awareness. She launched an online community to post inspirational stories involving special needs such as Autism, Down syndrome, and Cerebral Palsy to name a few. Feeling that that wasn’t enough she later launched an online radio show called The Yvonne Pierre Show to use as a platform to empower others through inspirational stories and information.

Yvonne has accomplished all of this and more without financial resources. How? She says,

“It is amazing how God is works. I was able to teach myself web and graphic design, in addition to the college degrees in Accounting and Business, fortunately I was able to do mostly everything myself. Things I couldn’t do I was able to barter services I need. I strongly believe that when God gives you a vision he provides you with what you need to bring it to life. There is no way I could have gotten this far without Him.”

Yvonne is currently working on releasing her first book under her publishing company Zyonair’s Unlimited, LLC. The book “The Day My Soul Cried” a nonfiction inspirational book is due out spring 2009.

She is also preparing to develop the works of Zyonair's Media Corporation is a nonprofit that will develop reading empowerment books, video, etc. specifically for, but not limited to, Down syndrome.

Yvonne Pierre currently resides in Metro Atlanta, GA with her two kids and best friend/mate of ten years, Steffan. She is currently in school working on her MBA. For more information or to contact Yvonne Pierre, visit www.zyonair.com, www.hyhradio.com, and www.myspace.com/hyhonline.

First Book Review of Don't Rock That Baby! by Mom Spark

Don't Rock That Baby! by Ann Tillage - Review & Giveaway! by Mom Spark

I had the pleasure of reading a copy of Ann Tillage's Don't Rock That Baby! The Other Advice: 46 Steps for Surviving the First Year of Motherhood.

This sweet, 60 page book is full of helpful tips (46 to be exact) perfect for the first-time mom who hasn't yet experienced sleep deprivation, childcare guilt or the joys of bonding with her little one. It is also great for us "experienced" moms who need a refresher course on how to deal with the screaming-puking-constant diaper changing-no rest for the weak-uncontrollable sobbing, joys of parenting an infant. Ann makes a point to sprinkle humor throughout her book, which helps one to remember that laughter really IS the best medicine in the toughest of times. (and what's tougher than parenting?)

What I found the most interesting about this read was Ann's "no rock policy." As the title of her book states, Ann believes in NOT rocking your baby. Controversial, yes, but I can see where she is coming from since I am still rocking my almost one year-old son to sleep, including in the middle of the night. I had never considered (or even heard of) her method before reading this book and I am now quite fascinated in learning more. You'll have to read the book to get the full scoop!

Even if you don't agree with the "no rock policy" (and you should at least hear her out), this book is definitely worth purchasing and sticking in your diaper bag for quick reference, packing in your suitcase on the way to the hospital, or giving to a new mom as a baby shower gift. You can purchase this book for the low price of $15.95 at www.dontrockthatbaby.com.

Overall, I really enjoyed this book as it was easy to read, informative and humorous. I believe it gives us moms the hope that we CAN and WILL survive the first year of "mommyhood," no matter the obstacles.

I would like to thank Ann Tillage for giving me the opportunity to read this! Don't forget that you can order her book at www.dontrockthatbaby.com! Ann is also the owner of the Sharmooz Company, which create luxurious satin gifts, so please check that out as well.

Now... on to the giveaway! Ann wants to give one lucky reader a copy of her book!
